SB Basketball: A Wild One vs BCS

By Andre Simard
The BCS Bears started the game with a 7-0 run but, after being on our heels until the 10-2 point, we began to compete, resulting in a 14-10 first quarter score in BCS's favour. Stanstead won the second quarter 11-7 despite BCS scoring a buzzer-beater to conclude the half with a 21-21 tie. The third quarter saw the Spartans outscore the Bears 11-8 for a 32-29 lead after three periods.

Then, the fourth quarter happened. It was quite a story. We extended our lead to 38-31 only to see BCS tie it up 38-38. Then it got interesting. Bo Bailey was fouled and hit 1 of 2 free throws but was awarded an extra one due to a BCS line infraction, so he ended up cashing 2 points (SC 40 - BCS 38). BCS made a 3-pointer (SC 40 - BCS 41). Chaz Grenier was fouled on a shot attempt, and he scored BOTH of his free throws (SC 42 - BCS 41). In the final few seconds of the game BCS hit a scoring shot in the paint (plus a foul and an and-1 that was not converted). Final score: SC 42 - BCS 43.

Bo had a terrific offensive game, going 8/13 from the field and 3/7 from the free throw line for 19 points; Daniel Liu had 13; Chaz chipped in 5; Will Laplante had a big 3; and Victor Giroux scored 2 points. We now head to CAIS in Montreal for 5 or 6 games over the next three days against national competitors.
